At MWC 2013,
Samsung has confirmed that its next generation flagship smartphone, the
Galaxy S IV, will be unveiled at an event on March 14, as recently rumoured. We think that Samsung will also showcase the Note III at the event, though there has been no confirmation on this.
In terms of specifications, the Samsung
Galaxy S IV is expected to have a 5-inch display with a 1920x1080 pixel
resolution. At CES 2013, Samsung unveiled an octa-core Exynos processor.
The new processor may not be on the Samsung Galaxy S IV but it is
expected to power the Note III. You can read more details about the
processor here.
Other expected specs of the Samsung
Galaxy S IV include 2GB of RAM, a 13MP rear-facing camera and a front
facing camera for video calling. Rumours on the Internet also suggest
that the device will also support the S Pen,
a feature only supported by the Note series of devices. Other rumours
on the Internet suggest that the S IV will also support wireless
charging. A compatible charging dock will be sold separately. This
doesn’t seem like a farfetched feature as it is already implemented in
devices such as the LG Nexus 4 and the Nokia Lumia 920.
Some leaked images suggest that the S IV
will forgo the traditional home button below the display where as
others suggest that it will have the same button placement as the S III.
This however will be settled once the device is unveiled. We have also
seen some sample images that have been clicked from the device leak
online. You can check out the images here. We have also seen some benchmark score of the S IV leak online. You can take a look at the details of the score here.
There is no information about the
pricing of the S IV but it is expected to hit store shelves as early as
April 2013. One thing we do wish is that Samsung breaks away from the
traditional plastic body to throw in a bit of metal giving it a premium
feel.
